When YMCA Camp Mason was ready to get their Google Grant up and running again the winter of 2022, they were in for a very nice surprise! After the team at Nonprofit Sherpa worked with Google to reactivate their existing Grant account (not always an easy job!), and then jumped in as soon as the account was ready to go to start writing ads and driving traffic, the result was rather amazing! One of our fastest starts, within 3 weeks time they had already received nearly 1,000 visits to their website with 800 of those first time visitors!
As with most YMCAs, getting ready for summer programming is a very crucial time and Camp Mason is no exception. With a very well optimized website, we knew this nonprofit had nothing to worry about - and we were right! On top of this, they are a branded nonprofit organization with great name recognition which can be a windfall in digital marketing. They knew it was an asset, but they had no idea how running text ads on Google could take them to the next level. Well, we knew the potential with our experience with other other branded nonprofits and were very excited to see exactly what we hoped could happen - full use of their $10,000/month Google Grant!
One of the most exciting ways the Google Grant can help branded/well-known nonprofits is to educate the searchers on what the nonprofit is doing right now, today! So many people think they know what the YMCA is all about but until they land on the website, many do not realize the scope of the work that’s being done. This is especially true for a camp-based YMCA like Camp Mason, who has been in operation for 122 years! We’ve been able to see stellar conversions for registrations, video views, and even scholarship applications start off well and continue to rise as each season goes by.
Update: Google awarded a select number of Grantees an exra $10,000 a month for Giving Season 2024 and Camp Mason was a very deserving receptient! We are excited to see them utilizing this extra spend each month.
